Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Dr. Priya Hippolyte is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with a Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) and over 10 years of experience in the healthcare field.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Salve Regina University in Newport, RI, and worked in diverse medical settings, including cardiology/cardiac step-down, neurology, brain injury, inpatient psychiatry, and surgical units specializing in bariatric surgery, gender-affirming surgery, and urology. These varied experiences shaped her broad understanding of healthcare and inspired her to further her education as she noticed there was a significant gap in mental health care where Dr. Priya completed both her Master of Science and Doctorate in Nursing at Regis College. Her doctoral research focused on improving care for patients with depression through integrative psychiatry, culminating in a quality improvement project that demonstrated the benefits of holistic mental health care. Dr. Priya Hippolyte adopts a whole-person approach to mental health care, integrating medication and therapy with lifestyle factors such as nutrition, exercise, and sleep to promote overall well-being. While she recognizes the importance of medication
in treatment, she believes it should not be the sole option. Dr. Priya collaborates closely with your treatment team to ensure a comprehensive and personalized care plan. She is committed to fostering a collaborative, trusting relationship with her patients to support their mental health journey. No more one-size-fits-"most"; it's all about offering you the special care you deserve.
Together, you’ll navigate the path to better mental well-being!
As a dedicated mentor and preceptor, Dr. Priya is passionate about guiding future psychiatric nurse practitioners. She provides mentorship to students and consultation services for new graduates, helping them confidently transition into advanced
practice during their first critical year. Additionally, she remains actively involved in advancing mental health care and nursing practice through research, education, and professional conferences.
Her approach to providing care emphasizes personalized and evidence-based care, holistic approaches, empowerment, and compassion, which align closely with her personal values. She believes in treating each person as an individual with unique needs and leverages evidence-based practices to ensure effective and tailored care. Taking a holistic view of mental health and exploring alternative options beyond medication resonates with her belief in considering all aspects of a person's life for their well-being.
She provides a comprehensive and personalized approach that fits each patient's unique needs. While therapy and medication are valuable, she believes in considering factors such as nutrition, exercise, social relationships, and sleep to improve overall well-being and empower patients in their mental health care. Patient comfort during sessions is of utmost importance, and she warmly encourages questions that may arise. Patients can count on a collaborative and supportive relationship.
